Development

The OECD is home to the Development Assistance Committee (DAC), chaired by Eckhard Deutscher.  The DAC’s work takes many forms, but its overarching goals are to monitor and enhance aid flows and to improve the effectiveness of aid. It is the major bilateral donor forum. The OECD is also home to the Development Centre, which is an important centre for policy research in development issues.

The Development Co-operation Report is published annually, and provides comprehensive data on aid flows.  The UK is an important sponsor of Paris 21, the global statistics forum, which is staffed by members of the OECD Secretariat.

The DAC operates a peer review process, which examines each member of the DAC every four years.  The last peer review was published in 2006, and the next is expected in 2010. The OECD also hosts the Africa Partnership Forum Support Unit and the Sahel and West Africa Club.
